Aklan dengue cases reach 5,320 – PHO
“One is a three-year-old boy fromMakato town and another is a two-year-old boy from Malinao. While both of themwere reported to have been vaccinated by polio, their tool samples were sent tothe Regional Institute for Tropical Medicine to determine their health status,”Cuachon said, adding that both of them manifested signs of polio disease suchas initial paralysis and low immunity./PN Dr. Cornelio Cuachon, ProvincialHealth officer 2, said they have recorded 23 dengue-related deaths as ofSeptember. The latest was a nine-year-old girl from Barangay Manoc-Manoc,Boracay Island, Malay. “We are now on the 39th Morbidity Weekfrom January to September of this year. Dengue cases have so far decreased from500 cases (for each month) two months ago, and now were down 3 to 4 cases aday,” Cuachon added. “(But) we are still vigilant and on alert especially inKalibo and Malay areas.” The towns of Kalibo and Malay eachrecorded three deaths. Aside from dengue, the PHO is also monitoring two minorssuspected with polio.
