That is why it goes so well.”We are only focused on the things we can control. We can control our own performance. We are only busy with that.”If you are maybe less focused than normal, then you have a manager in Jurgen who will tell you directly that there is no space for doing less or enjoying things too much. The other guys know they have to give everything.“It shows how he has grown. Gfinity FIFA Series February preview

first_imgThe road to the FIFA eWorld Cup continues as February is set to start with a bang thanks to the second Gfinity FIFA Series tournament. The Licensed Qualifier Event will offer the winner a lion’s share of the prize pool and 850 crucial Global Series points.Descending to the Gfinity Arena this weekend will be 32 of the world’s best FIFA 19 players (16 on PlayStation and 16 on Xbox) who will be looking to improve their place in the Global Series rankings. The standout of those competitors will, of course, be Donovan ‘F2Tekkz’ Hunt who still has the points out of any player in the world with an impressive total of 4,220 – over 1,100 points above Xbox’s second place player and reigning FIFA eWorld Cup champion Mossad ‘MSdossary’ Aldossary. Article continues below Editors’ Picks ‘There is no creativity’ – Can Solskjaer get Man Utd scoring freely again? ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? Tekkz got off to the perfect start this season, winning the first two events he could enter: The Fut Champions Cup and the PGL Cup. The youngster was set to make it a record-breaking three tournament wins in a row at the December FUT Champions Cup but was defeated in the Xbox semi-finals by Rogue’s world champion MSdosary. Then in the two following tournaments, Tekkz has been eliminated by two other Rogue players: Nawid ‘GoalMachine’ Noorzai and Niklas ‘NRaseck’ Raseck. With no Rogue players in attendance this weekend, Tekkz will be confident he can finally add another trophy to his growing collection. However, one the PlayStation side of things, everyone will need to keep an eye on Nicolas ‘Nicolas99fc’ Villalba who won the last Gfinity Series and became the first PlayStation player to win a cross-console final since the FIFA eClub World Cup in 2017. The impressive Argentine will also be happy to see MSdossary isn’t in attendance after the Saudi Arabian thrashed him in the FUT Champions Cup December final. One other PlayStation player to watch out for is PSV’s Stefano ‘Pinna97’ Pinna who was the runner-up in last year’s FIFA eWorld Cup.The Belgian had an amazing chance to claim a trophy at the January FUT Champions Cup last weekend as most of PS4’s major players failed to qualify. He got through to the PlayStation final but fell to a shock defeat at the hands of Hasan ‘Hasoo’ Eker. Pinna97 has a point to prove and this will certainly be his chance but even if he can overcome Nicolas99fc, the Xbox division is a huge hurdle with the likes of Melbourne City’s Marcus Gomes and Werder Bremen’s Michael ‘Megabit’ Bittner also in attendance.last_img read more

Wales manager Giggs insists Bale still loves football

first_imgWales manager Ryan Giggs has insisted star player Gareth Bale remains happy and enthusiastic despite enduring a difficult season in Spain with Real Madrid. His comments come amid claims that the Cardiff-born attacker has lost his love for the game following a tricky spell that has seen him lose his place in Real’s starting XI and found himself stuck on the bench.Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane even refused to bring him off the bench in the final La Liga game of the season, denying the 29-year-old a potential farewell and later saying: “He [Bale] has won a lot here, but we live for the present and the future.” Article continues below Editors’ Picks ‘There is no creativity’ – Can Solskjaer get Man Utd scoring freely again? ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? The £85.3m signing from Tottenham has also become a target for the club’s fans, with a recent poll revealing that only nine per cent of almost five million Real supporters want him to stay at the Bernabeu Stadium.According to Giggs, however, Bale has lost none of his love for the game, and he has praised the former Southampton winger for his application and attitude ahead of Wales’ upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary.“I saw him this week (at a training camp),” Giggs told The Mail, “and he looked like he enjoyed football to me.“He was sharp, he wanted the ball, and he was practising his trademark of cutting in on his left foot. He scored a great goal.“Afterwards, when a lot of the lads went in, he was practising his shooting, so that doesn’t strike me as someone who just wants to get off and go back to his room.“It struck me as a professional who still loves football.”Despite winning four Champions League titles, three FIFA World Club titles, a La Liga crown and the Copa del Rey since his arrival in 2013, Bale’s future remains unclear. When asked if he was surprised by the criticism aimed at Bale, who has also scored over 100 goals for the club, Giggs said: “Yes, but I’m not over there.“I’m not a Real Madrid fan. I don’t know the ins and outs and I’m only looking from the outside.“But you’ve got a player who won the team the Champions League final last year with one of the best goals you’ve ever seen and performs for that team week in, week out.“I remember the original Ronaldo getting stick off Real Madrid fans. I remember Cristiano (Ronaldo) getting stick early doors.“It’s that kind of club, it’s a club like no other where the white handkerchiefs come out if they don’t like you. That’s just the way it is.“But we played a game (on Tuesday) and he looked really good, sharp and really fresh.“I’m excited to see him in these two games.”last_img read more

Kane: Juventus strike was one of my best ever

first_imgHarry Kane described his sensational goal against Juventus on Sunday as “probably one of the best of my career”.Tottenham appeared to be heading for a deciding penalty shoot-out in their International Champions Cup clash with the Italian champions in Singapore before Kane’s spectacular intervention in stoppage time. The England captain spotted Wojciech Szczesny off his line and beat him from just inside Juve’s half with a precision strike to secure a dramatic 3-2 win in Spurs’ first pre-season game ahead of the 2019-20 campaign. Article continues below Editors’ Picks Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? Ox-rated! Dream night in Genk for Liverpool ace after injury nightmare Messi a man for all Champions League seasons – but will this really be Barcelona’s? Kane has scored some wonderful goals during his career, having netted 164 competitive goals for Tottenham since his first against Shamrock Rovers in 2011, but he believes the one against Juve ranks alongside his very best.”It’s probably one of the best goals in my career,” he said in a post-match interview.”I saw in part of the game the keeper [Szczesny] was quite far off the line, so I thought if I get a chance to shoot, I’m going to shoot and thankfully it went in.”The Tottenham striker made 28 Premier League appearances last season as he struggled with an ankle injury towards the latter part of the campaign. The 25-year-old missed out on Spurs’ dramatic Champions League semi-final comeback against Ajax as a result, and was unable to make an impact during their final defeat against Liverpool as he started the game with little match fitness.Kane was introduced as a half-time substitute against the Old Lady and is satisfied to start getting pitch time under his belt ahead of the new season.”It’s been great to get 45 minutes,” he added.”It’s been a good start to pre-season; everyone is working hard.”It’s very hot here so it will definitely get us fit. We’re looking forward to the next game [against Manchester United on Thursday] and we go from there.”The International Champions Cup will host an all-English clash next Thursday as Spurs meet Manchester United, who defeated Inter 1-0 on Saturday evening, in Shanghai.Kane’s side will open their Premier League campaign with a home fixture against newly-promoted Aston Villa on August 10.last_img read more
